Winter eBike Maintenance Tip: Clean Connections, follow checklist

Winter riding brings slush, salt, moisture, and freeze-thaw cycles — and those elements don’t just affect your tires. They affect your electrical connections.
In our latest Quick Tip Video, Bicycle Motor Works, explains why winter connector care is critical for high-performance eBike systems.
High-current connectors like the XT90S can accumulate:
• Road salt
• Moisture
• Corrosive residue
Over time, this increases electrical resistance — reducing efficiency and potentially causing overheating under load.
Here’s what to do (2–3 times per month in winter):
✔ Clean connectors with 90%+ rubbing alcohol or denatured alcohol
✔ Use a non-metallic tool if debris needs removal
✔ Reapply alcohol and dry thoroughly (hair dryer or light heat gun use)
✔ Apply dielectric/connectivity grease
✔ Close any open ports
Clean connections = consistent performance.
Wait. There is more to Winter-Ready Maintenance! Take a look at the full checklist.
