The CYC Photon Pro is a compact, high-performance mid-drive conversion kit designed for riders who want quiet operation, natural pedal response, and impressive climbing power. It converts a wide range of commuter, mountain, fat-tire, and compatible carbon-frame bicycles into capable e-bikes while preserving responsive handling, ground clearance, and a clean appearance.

Unlike basic cadence-only systems, the Photon Pro combines torque and cadence sensing. It measures both how hard and how quickly you pedal, then delivers assistance in proportion to your effort. The result is smooth, predictable power in city traffic, on steep climbs, and across demanding off-road terrain.

At just 3.2 kg without cranks, the Photon Pro adds substantial performance without excessive weight or bulk. Multiple bottom-bracket, chainring, crank, battery, and control options allow the system to be tailored to a wide variety of builds.

Every aspect of the Photon Pro reflects extensive feedback from real-world riders. Its robust sprag clutch, open CAN bus integration, weather-resistant construction, and waterproof wiring make it a versatile platform for serious e-MTB builds, long-range commuters, and experienced DIY enthusiasts.

The Photon Pro can be configured for Class 1, Class 2, or Class 3 applications, depending on the selected settings, controls, and local regulations. Higher-powered configurations are intended for private-property or off-road use where permitted.

CYC Ride Control App

The CYC Ride Control app, available for iOS and Android, is the Photon Pro’s primary configuration and monitoring system. The app connects to the controller through Bluetooth, allowing you to customize the motor’s behavior for your bike, riding style, and terrain.

With the app, you can:

• Configure two separate riding or power modes
• Adjust pedal-assist response, throttle behavior, and gear preferences
• Calibrate and configure the torque sensor
• Monitor system performance
• Configure battery settings and connected peripherals
• View system warnings and clear errors

During initial setup, the app is used to enter important information such as battery voltage, wheel diameter, and applicable regional power or speed limits. It is also required to review and clear certain system warnings or errors.

Frame and Bike Compatibility

The Photon Pro is designed to fit a broad range of bicycle frames, including many conventional mountain bikes, commuters, fat bikes, and select carbon-frame bicycles. Bottom-bracket widths from 68 to 120 mm are supported through the available fitment options.

Frame geometry, chainstay clearance, bottom-bracket construction, and chainline should always be checked before ordering—especially on carbon frames, internally routed frames, and unusually shaped full-suspension bicycles.

The Photon Pro is well suited to experienced DIY builders. Riders who are unfamiliar with bottom-bracket removal, drivetrain alignment, electrical installation, or e-bike programming may wish to have the system installed by a qualified bicycle or e-bike technician.

Warranty

CYC motor kits include a one-year warranty from the date of shipment, subject to the manufacturer’s warranty terms and exclusions.
